You set your own agenda. The proportion of cruising to time tied up is entirely your choice. You can moor at almost any point on the canal save for mooring under bridges, on bends, in narrow cuts, in locks and at sites signposted as "no mooring" spots. Mooring at designated moorings usually in towns and villages will sometimes incur a small fee, but frequently facilities such as electricity, water, showers and toilets and wi-fi will be offered, sometimes at a fee but sometimes inclusive of the overnight mooring fee. At some moorings water and electricity will be provided free to encourage boaters to stop and spend money at local shops.
